Buckling Analysis of Piles in Multi-Layered Soils
نویسندگان
چکیده
Pile buckling is infrequent, but sometimes it can occur in slender piles (i.e., micropiles) driven into soils with soft layers and/or voids. Buckling analysis of becomes more complex if the pile surrounded by multi-layered soil. In this case, well-known Timoshenko’s solution for no use because refers to single-layered soils. A variational approach herein proposed. The proposed method allows estimation critical load any soil and boundary condition, provided that distribution coefficient subgrade reaction available. An eigenvalue-eigenvector problem defined, where each eigenvector set coefficients a Fourier series describing second-order displaced shape pile, related eigenvalue, thus obtaining effective as minimum eigenvalue. Besides deformed shape, stiffness also described through series. Rayleigh–Ritz direct used identify development deformation. For validation, results were compared those obtained from an experimental test finite element available literature, which confirmed method’s reliability.

Numerical Analysis of Piles in Layered Soils: A Parametric Study
In this paper, numerical analysis of a pile-soil interaction problem is presented considering the parameters influencing the axial load-deformation behavior of the pile embedded in a layered soil medium. The analysis is demonstrated with parametric solutions of a pile with underlain model soil strata under the axial force. An attempt is made to ascertain the extent of influence of elastic prope...
متن کاملbuckling behavior of piles in liquefiable soils
in the realistic manner, piles are similar to the slender columns that soil around them acts as a lateral support. the piles situated in the liquefiable soil layers, loss their lateral supports due to the liquefaction resulted from the seismic ground motion. in this case, pile has the potency of axial instability similar to the unsupported columns. this instability can lead to the lateral buckl...
متن کاملA Continuum-Based Model for Analysis of Laterally Loaded Piles in Layered Soils
An analysis is developed to calculate the response of laterally loaded piles in multilayered elastic media. The displacement fields in the analysis are taken to be the products of independent functions that vary in the vertical , radial and circumferential directions. The governing differential equations for the pile deflections in different soil layers are obtained using the principle of minim...
